Mike Borland

Graduated from Baylor Law School with honors, sixth in his class of one hundred and sixteen, in 1981.  He was Notes and Comments editor of the Baylor Law Review, and a member of The Order of Barristers. His preferred areas of practice are Personal Injury and Immigration.  Mr. Borland has been active in the representation of over 200 clients with claims resulting from breast implants and of Fen-Phen use, including extensive consulting and referral work as lead counsel in these areas of practice for other law firms.  He has now combined his interest and varied experience in complex areas of law with his love of Spanish, to expand into immigration law and immigration litigation.  He is Board Certified in Immigration and Nationality Law by the Texas Board of Legal Specialization, a distinction held by only 121 attorneys in Texas, and by only four attorneys practicing west of the Dallas/Fort Worth Metroplex.   His personal injury practice includes Oil Field, Refinery and Petrochemical Processing Facility serious injury and death cases, of which the firm currently has three active cases, two being death cases and the other a permanent total disability case.  He handles both employer gross negligence death claims and third party negligence claims in these areas of practice.

Mr. Borland is admitted to practice before all Texas State and U.S. District Courts, The U.S. Fifth Circuit Court of Appeals and The United States Supreme Court, and has appellate experience in Texas Courts of Appeal, the Texas Supreme Court, the Board of Immigration Appeals, the U.S. Fifth Circuit Court of Appeals and the U. S. Supreme Court.  He is a member of The Texas Bar Association, The Bar Association of the Fifth Federal Circuit, the American Immigration Lawyers Association and its Texas Chapter.   He is fluent in Spanish, is an instrument rated pilot and a member of Mensa.

       


Misty Borland Phiffer


Graduated from Baylor Law School in 1994. While attending law school Misty was a member of the Phi Alpha Delta legal fraternity and won a position in the Order of The Barristers through her skill in Moot Court. She was also winner of the Harvey M. Richey Moot Court Competition in the fall of 1993. Her preferred areas of practice are personal injury and death cases, including those arising from motor vehicle accidents, defective products, drugs and medical devices and burn cases. She is a member of The Texas Bar Association, The Midland County Bar Association, and is past President of The Midland County Young Lawyers Association. She is a member of the Texas Trial Lawyers Association, and serves on its Diversity Committee. Misty is admitted to practice law before all Texas State Courts and the United States District Court for the Western District of Texas.

 


Vi Lea Borland


Graduated from Baylor Law School in 1982. Since 1989, she has been a board certified specialist in business and consumer bankruptcy, certified by The Texas Board of Legal Specialization. Her preferred areas of practice are debtor/creditor law and business and consumer bankruptcy, representing both debtors and creditors, including the representation of people and businesses with tax debt, and corporate law, including the formation of business corporations, limited liability companies and partnerships. She is a past member of the Bankruptcy Certification Committee for The State Bar of Texas, serving as Co-Chair of that Committee in 2005. She has filed and confirmed numerous Chapter 11 cases, including a case in which the debtor was a hospital. She has also been active in the representation of numerous clients with claims resulting from breast implants in the Dow Corning Bankruptcy proceedings and in State and Federal Courts. She is admitted to practice before all Texas State Courts, The United States District Courts for the Northern, Western, and Southern Districts of Texas, and The U.S. Fifth Circuit Court of Appeals. She is a member of The Texas State Bar Association, The Midland County Bar Association, The Bar Association of the Fifth Federal Circuit and is a member of Mensa.
